Daisy and Kleinzee Solar PV Facilities

Projects Activity and Locations: The development of two (2) separate solar photovoltaic (PV) facilities located ~20km west of the town of Komaggas, and 24km southeast of Kleinzee, within the Springbok REDZ and within the Northern Corridor of the Strategic Transmission Corridors. These projects are located in the Nama Khoi Local Municipality within the Namakwa District Municipality, Northern Cape.

The infrastructure associated with each PV facility includes:

» Solar PV array comprising PV modules and mounting structures

» Inverters and transformers

» Low voltage cabling between the PV modules to the inverters

» 33kV cabling between the project components and the facility substation

» 132kV onsite facility substation

» 132kV power line to connect to the grid at the authorised Zonnequa Collector Substation within a 300m wide corridor

» Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)

» Site offices and maintenance buildings, including workshop areas for maintenance and storage

» Laydown areas

» Site access and internal roads

Application for Environmental Authorisation: Separate applications for Environmental Authorisation (EA) in terms of the National Environmental Management Act (No. 107 of 1998) (NEMA) and the EIA Regulations, 2014, as amended, (GNR 324-327) are to be submitted for the projects. Each application is being supported by a Basic Assessment process in accordance with GNR114 (February 2018), as the project sites are located within a REDZ. Savannah Environmental is undertaking the required environmental assessment and combined public participation process.

Revised Basic Assessment (BA) Reports available for review:  The Revised BA Report for each project is available for review and comment from 28 July 2023 to 28 August 2023.  The due date for written comment is 28 August 2023.
