NOTICE OF BASIC ASSESSMENT AND PUBLIC PARTICIPATION PROCESS
ADDITIONAL FOOTPRINT FOR THE ENGIE GROOTSPRUIT SOLAR PV FACILITY, FREE STATE PROVINCE
Applicant: Engie Grootspruit Solar Project (Pty) Ltd.
Proposed Activity: An additional Footprint of 19.9 ha on the remainder of portion 0 of Farm Grootspruit for the for the currently authorised and Preferred Bidder 180 ha known as Engie Grootspruit Solar Project PV Facility in the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality, Free State Province.
Project Location: The proposed additional area for the solar facility will be located on Portion 0 of Farm Grootspruit 252 in the Matjhabeng Local Municipality in the Lejweleputswa District of the Free State Province on the following farm portion:
Basic Assessment Process: In terms of Sections 24 and 24D of the National Environmental Management Act (No 107 of 1998), as read with Government Notice R324 – R327, as amended, a Basic Assessment (BA) is required to be undertaken in support of an application for the Environmental Authorisation of the additional footprint. Savannah Environmental is undertaking the required BA and public participation process for the project.
Basic Assessment Report available for public review and comment: Savannah Environmental has compiled a Basic Assessment Report in support of the Application for Environmental Authorisation. The Basic Assessment Report and associated documentation will be available for public review and comment from Thursday 14 March 2022 to Monday 14 April 2022. The due date for written comment will be Monday 14 April 2022.
