Limestone Solar PV

Applicant:  AGV Projects (Pty) Ltd.

Proposed Activity:  The development of the Limestone PV1 and Limestone PV2 Solar Energy Facilities with a contracted capacity of up to 150MWp each and, the Oryx Wind Energy Facility with a contacted capacity of 360MW. Infrastructure associated with both Solar Energy Facilities and the Wind Energy Facility will include the following:

Solar PV Facilities Wind Facility
»     PV modules mounted on either a single axis tracking & fixed structure, dependent on optimisation, technology available and cost.

»     Inverters and transformers.

»     Fence around the project development area with security and access control.

»     33kV cabling between the project components and the facility substation.

»     33/132kV onsite facility substation.

»     Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with a footprint of 3-5ha.

»     Site offices and maintenance buildings, including workshop areas for maintenance and storage as well as parking for staff and visitors.

»     Laydown/staging area on-site in front of mounting structures during installation. Temporary store area close to site entrance (Less than 2ha).

»     Access roads (up to 6m wide) and internal distribution roads (up to 5m wide).

»     Temporary concrete batching facility.

»     Stormwater management infrastructure as required.

»     Camera surveillance

»     Internet connection

»     Up to 60 wind turbines with a maximum hub height between 100-140m and rotor diameter between 120-200m.

»     Concrete turbine foundations to support the turbines.

»     33kV cabling to connect the wind turbines to the onsite substations, to be laid underground and overhead where applicable.

»     Inverters and transformers.

»     Temporary concrete batching plant.

»     Up to 2x 33kV/132kV onsite substations each having a footprint of 0.5-0.6ha.

»     Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).

»     Laydown and crane hardstand areas.

»     Site office and maintenance buildings including a workshop and storage area as well as parking for staff and visitors.

»     Site access roads as well as internal distribution roads of 4-6m wide.

»     Stormwater management infrastructure as required.

»     Camera surveillance

»     Internet connection

Location:  The wind energy facility is located approximately 10km west of the town of Danielskuil. The solar PV facilities are located ~16km southeast of the town of Danielskuil.  All projects are located within the Northern Cape Province on the following properties:
