PUBLIC PARTICIPATION PROCESSES FOR THE PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT OF THE AGV PROJECTS (PTY) LTD WIND AND SOLAR RENEWABLE ENERGY FACILITIES AND ASSOCIATED INFRASTRUCTURES NEAR DANIELSKUIL, NORTHERN CAPE PROVINCE
Applicant: AGV Projects (Pty) Ltd.
Proposed Activity: The development of the Limestone PV1 and Limestone PV2 Solar Energy Facilities with a contracted capacity of up to 150MWp each and, the Oryx Wind Energy Facility with a contacted capacity of 360MW. Infrastructure associated with both Solar Energy Facilities and the Wind Energy Facility will include the following:

» Inverters and transformers. » Fence around the project development area with security and access control. » 33kV cabling between the project components and the facility substation. » 33/132kV onsite facility substation. » Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with a footprint of 3-5ha. » Site offices and maintenance buildings, including workshop areas for maintenance and storage as well as parking for staff and visitors. » Laydown/staging area on-site in front of mounting structures during installation. Temporary store area close to site entrance (Less than 2ha). » Access roads (up to 6m wide) and internal distribution roads (up to 5m wide). » Temporary concrete batching facility. » Stormwater management infrastructure as required. » Camera surveillance » Internet connection

» Up to 60 wind turbines with a maximum hub height between 100-140m and rotor diameter between 120-200m.
» Concrete turbine foundations to support the turbines. » 33kV cabling to connect the wind turbines to the onsite substations, to be laid underground and overhead where applicable. » Inverters and transformers. » Temporary concrete batching plant. » Up to 2x 33kV/132kV onsite substations each having a footprint of 0.5-0.6ha. » Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). » Laydown and crane hardstand areas. » Site office and maintenance buildings including a workshop and storage area as well as parking for staff and visitors. » Site access roads as well as internal distribution roads of 4-6m wide. » Stormwater management infrastructure as required. » Camera surveillance » Internet connection

Location: The wind energy facility is located approximately 10km west of the town of Danielskuil. The solar PV facilities are located ~16km southeast of the town of Danielskuil. All projects are located within the Northern Cape Province on the following properties:

Scoping & Environmental Impact Assessment (S&EIA) Processes: In terms of Sections 24 and 24D of the National Environmental Management Act (No 107 of 1998), as read with Government Notice R324 – R327, as amended, S&EIA processes are required for the proposed Limestone PV1 and Limestone PV2 Solar Energy Facility. Separate applications for authorisation will be submitted to the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE). Savannah Environmental is undertaking the required S&EIA, and public participation process for this project.
Scoping Reports Available for Review & Comment: The Scoping Reports for the projects are available for download, review, and comment on the Savannah Environmental website (https://savannahsa.com/public-documents/energy-generation/). The 30-day review & comment period of the Scoping Reports is from Friday, 6 January 2023 until Monday, 6 February 2023. The final day to submit a comment is Monday, 6 February 2023. The availability of the Scoping Report for the Oryx Wind Energy Facility as well as the 30-day review and comment period, will be communicated in due course.
