NOTICE OF ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT AND PARTICIPATION PROCESS AND AVAILABILITY OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT REPORT FOR THE PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT OF THE ORYX WIND ENERGY FACILITY, NORTHERN CAPE PROVINCE

Applicant: K2022578764 (SOUTH AFRICA) (Pty) Ltd

Proposed Activity: The development of the Oryx Wind Energy Facility, with a capacity of up to 424MW, and associated infrastructure.

Project Location:  The sites proposed for the Oryx Wind Energy Facility will be located approximately10km west of the town of Daniëlskuil within the Kgatelopele and Tsantsabane Local Municipalities and ZF Mgcawu District Municipality, Northern Cape Province.

Application for Environmental Authorisation: An Environmental Authorisation (EA) is required to be obtained for the development of the Oryx Wind Energy Facility.  The Application for EA will be supported by a Scoping and Environmental Impact Assessment (S&EIA) process in terms of the National Environmental Management Act (No. 107 of 1998) (NEMA) and the 2014 EIA Regulations (GNR 326), as amended. Savannah Environmental (Pty) Ltd has been appointed as the independent consultants to undertake the S&EIA and public participation processes.

EIA Report available for Public Review & Comment: The EIA Report in support of the Application for Environmental Authorisation for the Oryx Wind Energy Facility and associated infrastructure have been compiled and will be available for a 30-day review and comment period from Monday, 29 July 2024 until Thursday, 29 August 2024.  The EIAr is also available via WeTransfer and DropBox on written request.  The final day to submit a comment is Thursday, 29 August 2024.
