PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION OF THE 55.5MW SPRINGBOK WIND POWER GENERATION FACILITY NEAR SPRINGBOK, NORTHERN CAPE PROVINCE
Applicant: Mulilo Springbok Wind Power (Pty) Ltd
Proposed Activity: Mulilo Springbok Wind Power (Pty) Ltd received Environmental Authorisation (EA) for the 55.5MW Springbok Wind Power Generation Facility on 27 July 2011. The applicant is requesting the validity of the Environmental Authorisation (EA) and subsequent Amendments to be extended by an additional 5 years such that the EA would be valid for a period of sixteen (16) years and six (6) months from the date of issue of the authorisation.
Project Location: The Springbok wind power generation facility is located on the following properties near Springbok within the Nama Khoi Local Municipality, Northern Cape Province:

Farm 635 Portion 0
Amendment Process: In terms of Condition 1.6 of the EA (DFFE Ref:12/12/20/1721) dated 27 July 2011 and Regulation 29 of the EIA Regulations 2014, as amended, it is possible for an applicant to apply, in writing, to the competent authority for an amendment of the environmental authorisation if the amendment will not change the scope of a valid environmental authorisation nor increase the level or nature of the impact. An application in this regard has been submitted to the DFFE who have confirmed that the application falls within the ambit of a Part 1 amendment process. A public participation process is required to be undertaken in support of this application in accordance with the requirements of the DFFE.
Motivation Report available for public review and comment: Savannah Environmental has compiled a Motivation Report in support of the Amendment Application (Part 1 amendment). The Motivation Report and supporting documentation is available for public review and comment from Thursday, 13th April 2023 to Tuesday, 16 May 2023. The due date for written comment will be Tuesday, 16 May 2023.
