NOTICE OF ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT AND PARTICIPATION PROCESS
THE 100MW ZONDEREINDE SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC (PV) ENERGY FACILITY AND ASSOCIATED INFRASTRUCTURE NEAR NORTHAM, LIMPOPO PROVINCE
Applicant: Letsatsi PV (Pty) Ltd.
Proposed Activity: The development of a 100MW Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Energy Facility and associated infrastructure to generate electricity for exclusive use by the Zondereinde Mine.
Project Location: Remainder of Portion 1 of the Farm Kopje Alleen 422KQ and Portion 2 of the Farm Zondereinde 384 KQ, located approximately 35km south of Thabazimbi and 18km northwest of Northam, between the R510 in the west and the R511 in the east, in the Thabazimbi Local Municipality and Waterberg District in the Limpopo Province.
Environmental Impact Assessment Process: In terms of Sections 24 and 24D of the National Environmental Management Act (No 107 of 1998), as read with Government Notice (GN) GNs 983, GNs 984 and GNs 985, as amended, a Scoping & Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process is required to be undertaken in support of an application for authorisation for the proposed Zondereinde Solar PV Energy Facility and associated infrastructure.
EIA Report available for Public Review & Comment: An EIA Report in support of the Application for Environmental Authorisation for the Solar PV facility and associated infrastructure has been compiled and will be available for review and comment for a 30-day period from Wednesday, 15 March 2023 until Wednesday, 19 April 2023.
