BASIC ASSESSMENT AND PUBLIC PARTICIPATION PROCESS HOUTHAALBOMEN GRID CONNECTION INFRASTRUCTURE NORTH WEST PROVINCE
Activity and Location: Houthaalboomen Grid (Pty) Ltd proposes the development of grid connection infrastructure for the Houthaalboomen PV Cluster, which includes a collector substation and a 132kV powerline. The grid connection infrastructure is situated within the Ditsobotla Local Municipality within the Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality.
The grid connection infrastructure is assessed on the following properties:
- Portion 1 of the Farm Houthaalboomen 31
- Portion 0 of Farm Talene 25
- Portion 39 of Farm Elandsfontein 34-
- Portion 93 of Farm Elandsfontein 34
- Portion 41 of Farm Elandsfontein 34
- Portion 0 of Farm Priem 30
- Portion 25 of Farm Houthaalboomen 31
- Portion 1 of Farm Lichtenburg Town and Townlands, No 27
Two alternative grid connection solutions located within a 200m wide corridor are assessed.
Environmental Assessment Process: Application for Environmental Authorisation in terms of the National Environmental Management Act (No. 107 of 1998) and the Environmental Assessment Regulations, 2014, as amended, (GNR 326) have been submitted for the project. The application is being supported by a Basic Assessment process.
Basic Assessment Report Available for Review: The Basic Assessment Report is available for review and comment from Friday, 13 May 2022 until Monday, 13 June 2022.
