Proposed Activity: Waste Licence Application for the Eskom Brackenfell oil recycling facility
Project Location: The oil recycling facility is located within an existing utility complex used for waste management processes on Portion 0 of Erf 22473, within the City of Cape Town Metropolitan Municipality, Western Cape Province.
Scoping and Environmental Impact Assessment (S&EIA) Process: In terms of Sections 24 and 24D of the National Environmental Management Act (No 107 of 1998) and the National Environmental Management: Waste Act 59 of 2008, as read with Government Notice 921, as amended, a S&EIA process is required for the facility. Savannah Environmental has been appointed by Eskom Holdings SOC Limited to undertake the required S&EIA and public participation processes for the project.
Scoping Report Available for Review: The Scoping Report is available for review and comment from Wednesday, 27 July 2022 until Monday, 29 August 2022. The final date to submit comments is Monday, 29 August 2022.
